The Ultimate Charcuterie Board

One of my most favourite things to serve when hosting a party is a Charcuterie board. By definition, charcuterie is commonly known as an assortment of cooked meats. In my opinion, however, the fun part is thinking outside the box by adding an assortment of different items.

Anything is a go when it comes to building your board. Your meat items can include a variety of preserved and prepared items, such as ham, bacon, sausages and paté. Then, you can accompany the meats with things like preserves, dips, pickles, dried fruit and fresh fruits - but don’t forget to add some of your favourite nuts, olives and crackers, or try slicing up a baguette or cubing some sourdough bread!

A few of my go-to items include:

  • Honey (honeycomb if you can find it)
  • Quartered figs
  • Red Pepper Jelly
  • Spicy meat like Calabrese
  • Prosciutto and/or Kielbasa
  • Hummus
  • Mixed Olives
  • Dried Apricots

Depending on the size of my party, I will sometimes add a small wedge of cheese, but if I’m hosting a larger party, then I prefer to do a separate cheese board entirely.

When we started brainstorming party themes for Perfect Party…in a Box, I knew that I wanted a theme that a Charcuterie board would pair well with. We started talking wine and girlfriends and yummy snacks – that’s when our “Uncork and Unwhine” party box was born.  It was so much fun staging this party, and equally as fun eating up all the goodies!

The brilliance of serving these boards at your next party is that there are no rules! Anything goes; as long as you have a good variety of different items, it will be a hit! The combinations are endless, making it completely okay to serve again and again and again!

What are your top picks when designing a Charcuterie board? We’d love to hear ☺

Until next time, keep Partying!
